Berkshire businesses rise to pancake challenge
|
Egged on by the success of last year's event, applications have been flooding in for the second annual Maidenhead pancake race, which will take place on February 28th.
Maidenhead Town Partnership and the service for the disabled, Maidenhead Shopmobility, run the event jointly. They say that more have applied for the event than had at the same stage last year.
They claim that there is a good mix of new and current competitors.
King Street will be the scene of what promises to be a flipping good contest, with proceeds going towards a new Shopmobility scooter.
Last year's pancake race champion, Lloyds TSB, believes the contest is no yoke, and is hoping to give the other businesses another battering
"I understand that all leave has been cancelled for Lloyds TSB staff and that they are doing intensive fitness training," said town manager Martin Fletcher.
"When I saw the bank's manager just before Christmas, he said that keeping the trophy was a key target for the branch!"
The race will take place between 11:00 and 12:00. For an entry form, contact Martin Fletcher on 01628 796128.
