Wolves return to Berkshire
A lucky group of walkers braved the woods to go walking with wolves.

About thirty people went into the woods outside Theale, on a four kilometre trek on Sunday, accompanied by two wolves from the Wolf Conservation Trust in Beenham.

West Berkshire Council arranged the adventure as part its Way to Health Scheme, which encourages walking amongst West Berkshire residents.

The event was organised by Mary Spanswick, from the arts and leisure development team at the council.

She said: "We all waited in anticipation as the wolves came out of the trailer to meet us. After that we all relaxed and had great fun walking with the wolves mingling with us.

She added that these wolves were not the type that eat grandmothers.

"We were also able to stroke and touch them at the say so of the wolf handlers," she commented.

The trail led to the Wolf Conservation Trust - one building from which you don't have to keep the wolf from the door. Walkers were invited in to warm up, ask the wolf handlers questions and learn more about the other types of wolf.

Local Councillor, Tony Vickers, admitted that wolves weren't so bad once you get to know them. He said: "It was quite an amazing experience. It changed my views about wolves."
