Honda in e-marketing pole position
The car manufacturer Honda is pulling away from its rivals when it comes to utilising the latest e-marketing opportunities.

According to Revolution magazine, it is marketing its Civic model to potential customers by making use of the latest video iPods.

The advert will be available for customers to download as a podcast, which is essentially an online videoclip.

This downloadable version of the advert will contain extra behind-the-scenes footage depicting the production process of the ad.

John Goodbody, web manager at Honda, said: "By engaging in videocasting, Honda is not only strengthening its commitment to reach new markets, it's extending the reach of the Honda Civic marketing campaign.

"It is enabling people to experience what a Honda feels like from one of their most personal and closest touch points - their iPod."

Those interested in the Civic will be able to download the ad from specialised podcast websites and also from the Civic's own website. It will be available from January 13th.

Honda has set up a micro-site for the Civic and it too is an indication of the company's recognition of the opportunities provided by digital marketing. It features a fully three dimensional model of the car, which users can expand to have a closer look at the car's key selling points.
