West Berks social services get 3 stars
|
West Berkshire social services have been given top marks from the body that monitors performance.
The West Berkshire Council social services, which serve Newbury, Thatcham and the surrounding area, have been given the top rating of three stars by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).
Joe Mooney, the council's executive councillor for community care, told the BBC: "This is an impressive accolade which reflects and recognises the extraordinary effort of everyone who has worked so hard to bring social services for older people and others in West Berkshire to this extremely high standard."
CSCI inspects councils' care services and grades them on their quality of services, ability to meet national targets and efficient use of resources.
West Berkshire Council has seen great improvement over the last few years rising from one star status two years ago and last year it was described as excellent gaining two stars.
