Reading gets new gallery
|
A new gallery has opened in Reading offering a place for some of the town's and country's most cutting edge artists to exhibit their works.
The Marksman Gallery, opened this week on Gun Street, will have three working gallery spaces for exhibitions and community projects and it is hoped will also add a new dimension to the town centre.
Gallery curator Emma Jamieson said: "This is a great chance to create a new and exciting contemporary gallery in the heart of Reading."
The opening exhibition features works by Timothy Holden, Katharine Simpson and William Tuck, all recent graduates from the Royal Academy Schools, and future exhibitions will involve students from Reading University.
Ms Jamieson added: "Developing a relationship with Reading University from where I graduated is of great importance to me."
The gallery has been brought to life by collaboration of artists, local businesses and community workers.
It is open every week from Wednesday to Saturday from 11am to 6pm and the opening exhibition will run until December 22nd.
