Reading race into the elite
Reading 's speedway club has been bought and now its racers will be riding in the Skybet Elite League.

Reading Speedway has been bought by Benfield Sports International (BSI) and it will join the 12 best clubs from around the country.

John Postlethwaite, chief executive, BSI said: "I hope the fans at Reading will support our move and enjoy following Elite League action from next season.

"Jim Lynch (the new team manager), myself and the team will do all we can to try and make an impact in our first year."

During the season that lasts from March to September Reading will compete with teams from around the UK in a series of races.

Each meeting in the league is a straight fight between two clubs with riders earning points throughout the evening's exciting races so one club eventually comes out top.

Reading Speedway that is based at the Smallmead Stadium, has been running since 1968 and has built up a strong following in the town.
