Reading school gets top marks
A Reading primary school has been given top marks from government inspectors.

Churchend Primary School, in Tilehurst, was given Grade One by Ofsted inspectors who also described the school as being "outstanding" with "exceptionally high" standards.

In a letter to pupils Ofsted reporting inspector Keith Sadler wrote: "We had a wonderful time when we visited your school.

"In most schools we visit we make a list of things that can be improved. For your school, we do not have any."

Headteacher Kate Dethridge said: "We were all thrilled with the report and delighted that the contributions of all those who are involved with the school were so generously praised."

Following the previous inspection that highlighted weaknesses in IT, the school has now invested in equipment so every classroom has an interactive whiteboard.

Despite the success Churchend Primary School is not resting on its laurels and the next target for even better results by focusing in bringing up the boys' grades, which following national trends are behind the girls'.
