Park your phone in Berks
Motorists can now buy parking tickets using their mobile phones, with a new scheme announced by West Berkshire Council.

People wanting to park will be able to use their mobile phones at pay and display meters following simple instructions to set how long they wish to park, after registering at a call centre.

Parkers will also be given the option of receiving a text message to warn them that they have ten minutes left to park.

Martyn Baker, car park manager at West Berkshire Council said, "We are always looking for ways to improve our customer service and feel sure that this easy to use payment method will prove to be a popular option.

"It is extremely easy to use and cuts out the need to be carrying the correct change."

The mobile parking scheme has already been a success in cities such as Dublin, Sydney and Edinburgh and will go live from November 8th at car parks across West Berkshire including Newbury, Hungerford and Pangbourne.
