ROYAL ASCOT FORECASTED WINNERS FOR THURSDAY JUNE 18th

2.30 Norfolk Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2). 2 year olds. 5f

MONSIEUR CHAVALIER is set up to with this following 3 straight wins but has a query against it in the form on YOGAROO. Trained by USA Wesley Ward who’s horses have trounced the field so far this Royal Ascot, one can not help but wonder if he’s another horse up his sleeve. In normal circumstances MONSIEUR CHAVALIER trained by Richard Hughes should extend his unbeaten run, but then …….?

Main bet: YOGAROO 9/4
Next best: MONSIEUR CHAVALIER 6/4.

3.05 Ribblesdale Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2) (Fillies) 3 year olds. 1m 4f

Trainer Sir Michael Stoute side stepped the Oaks to run LEOCORNO in the Ribblesdale. Her main rival will certainly be Henry Cecil’s FLAME OF GIBRALTAR following her classy Lingfield run. However, on the basis that LEOCORNO had no difficulty taking the field apart at Sandown last time out, I place him the form horse for this race today.

Main bet: LEOCORNO 7/4

3.45 Gold Cup (Class 1) (Group 1). 2m 4f

Only one horse, the great French stayer Sagaro, won 3 Gold Cups (1975, 76, 77). The Aiden O’Brein-trained YEATS has already emulated him. Today YEATS is after proving he’s the greatest of champions with a FOURTH WIN. Pitting against him is GEORDIELAND who ran in this race last year. 2 years ago I wrote “GEORDIELAND, trained by Jamie Osborne, is no slouch and rode 2nd to Sergeant Cecil in the Yorkshire Cup.” This year, he thinks he’s got the handle on YEATS and thinks him beatable, however, YEATS proved him wrong yet again. It’s only between the two in my book but just because I wan YEATS to produce the impossible I’ll stick with him and see what happens.

Main bet: YEATS 9/4
Next best: GEORDIELAND 3/1

4.20 Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 3 year olds. 1m 4f

This race’s last two winners have been priced 28/1 and 33/1! This is not surprising as 30 thunder to the post in this race. So, if I were to pick just one out of the hat but for a good reason, I would choose ESPIRITU from the J NOSEDA stable simply because it won its last race in style at Beverly and the stable is in great form at the moment.

Main bet: ESPIRITU 25/1 each way

4.55 Hampton Court Stakes (Class 1) (Listed Race) 3 year olds. 1m 2f

The Aidan O’ Brein trained FREEMANTLE is expected to improve considerably following his run in the Dante last month following a front-running performance. I wouldn’t like to pick anything else.

Main bet: FREEMANTLE 11/8

5.30 King George V Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 1mile 4f

I like BARWELL BRIDGE who’s last three starts have resulted in career best efforts which says there is more to come in my book. JOHANN ZOFFANY has 2 recent wins to his name but carries top weight, which as asking for a lot in this competitive field. There will always be surprises lurking in this race though so don’t take my word for it!

Main bet: BARWELL BRIDGE 14/1 each way
Next best JOHANN ZOFFANY 8/1 each way

GOOD LUCK!
