King Edward V11 Stakes Tips

3.05 King Edward V11 Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) 1m 4f

Formerly known, and often colloquially referred to, as the ‘Ascot Derby’, this race was inaugurated in 1834 and regularly featured horses of both sexes that had competed in the middle-distance Classics. First run as the King Edward VII Stakes in 1926 and restricted to 3 year old colts and geldings only, this race still continues to attract horses that have competed in the Derby at Epsom.

A very impressive horse in this race is CONDUIT. At Epsom, jockey Ryan Moore kept him at the rear of the field until asking for a run. And what a run! From near last to first and then winning by 6 lengths has got to make CONDUIT a horse to be seriously considered. CITY LEADER is also one to consider following an impressive 1ml3f win at Goodwood, but this race will need even greater effort. . MOIQUEN hasn’t shone recently due in part to running a series of races in quick succession but running fresh today could give her a chance. Would need to improve to win this but at 16/1 may reward e/w.

Main bet: CONDUIT 7/2.
Next best: CITY LEADER 8/1.
