Ribblesdale Stakes Tips

3.10 Ribblesdale Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2) (Fillies) 3 year olds. 1m 4f

Named after the 4th Baron Ribblesdale, Master of the Buckhounds between 1892 and 1895. first run in 1919, this race was originally staged over a mile for 3 and 4 year olds. Now restricted to the Classic generation only and run over the extended distance of a mile and a half, the winner of the Ribblesdale Stakes is invariably a top class filly.

Banimpire 5/2 has only just run at Cork (last Sunday) but is still considered fresh enough by his trainer Jim Bolger to run today. Pundits think this 12 fl heat has lost its gloss in recent years and that today’s race isn’t the best field ever assembled. Therefore, the trainer thinks that as Banimpire is in sparkling form with 4 wins under the belt, the step up to a mile and a half should prove no problem. The lightly raced and progressive Rumph 7/2 will certainly provide a challenge following a recent Newbury performance.

Main bet: Banimpire 5/2 to win No: 2 on the racecard.
