Apprentice Event Sparks Fundraising Idea
Penny Clover of Berkshire Community Foundation was inspired to suggest an exciting fundraising and networking idea at the Business in Berkshire ‘Apprentice’ event on Monday.
The Arches Club in Reading made a refreshing and unusual change to the traditional hotel / conference centre typical of so many seminars and networking events. Inspired by the surroundings, Penny suggested a series of themed networking events to tie in with the ‘Apprentice’ programme.
The idea would involve an event giving businesses the chance to raise money for Berkshire charities, network with other businesses, and find out more about Berkshire Community Foundation and Business in Berkshire. The Arches Club is easy to find and would also lend itself to various themes (Victorian, Mediaeval etc) which opens up plenty of ideas for a fun event.
The link-up with the Apprentice Programme would come through the organisation of the event – an ideal project for a Business in Berkshire Apprentice. Indeed, there may already be a willing volunteer waiting in the wings (more about this later). Penny would offer direction and advice to the Apprentice, tickets could be sold online, and Business in Berkshire could promote the events and ‘make it happen’.
