Bring a £ to Work
Get your company on air and help make Friday 13th October a lucky day for local kids! Bring a £ to Work offers companies and organisations a unique opportunity to involve their employees in helping local children through “Give a Child a Chance”!
Berkshire Community Foundation (BCF) has teamed up with Time 106.6Fm, Slough Business Community Partnership (SBCP) and many companies around the area to organise the event to raise money for local children. Some big companies are already committed – including Masterfoods, BAA, Tesco, Thames Valley University and Sara Lee but of course anyone can take part. Schools are particularly keen to help.
Gordon Storey, a Trustee at BCF and Chair of SBCP is heading the fundraising team. He said “We want as many companies as possible to register and take part. Last year the event in Reading raised over £12,000 – we want to collect even more on 13 October for local children. The idea is that you also have some fun at work - and hear your name and company mentioned on Time 106.6FM too when we collect your donations!
It is very simple to register either by phone 0845 003 1387 or on-line on our website www.berksfoundation.org.uk/friday13
We want to hear about your wacky ideas to raise more - we know staff will have lots of imaginative ideas and we’d love to hear them to feature in our publicity, inspire other people and feature on the radio! Time 106.6FM starts coverage for the campaign this week, so listen out!”
Robin Draper, CEO at the Foundation said “Despite being in an affluent area, there are still individual real needs, being met by local voluntary organisations. ”Give a Child a Chance” is looking to continue and expand locally. We also want to provide more opportunities for adventure and fun as part of every child’s life. Last year, we made grants to 28 voluntary groups giving children all kinds of chances, and helped a further 40 individual children.
Thanks to local support we granted £57,665 but we always have more applications from projects for children than funds to help. So please make a donation or register today”.
A fleet of cars, and even the Mayor in the official Mayoral Car will be driving around collecting money on the day - from hopefully thousands of people who will bring just £1 to work. A simple way to make a real difference. There will also be opportunities for people to donate at collection points at the Observatory and at Slough and Maidenhead Railway Stations.
