Dragon Boat Racing for Charity - Local Businesses Needed
There are still a few places left for teams to take part in this year’s Annual Charity Dragon Boat Challenge on Saturday 17 June in Pangbourne, as part of its Summer Fete. Organised by the Rotary Club of Pangbourne and Henley Dragon Boat Club, this fun charity event raises key funds for local organisations including Sue Ryder Care and Breast Cancer Campaign. Last year the Challenge raised £8,400 (net) for charity.
A crew of 17 to 20 people will paddle a dragon boat, which is a large decorative canoe, along a course of 250 metres, racing against other teams. All the equipment is provided, plus a helmsman - you just need to provide the crew! Each team will race three times and there are prizes to be won, plus each team entering receives a certificate.
It promises to be an excellent day and is an ideal team-building event for businesses wanting to help local charities at the same time. The team’s entry donation of £340 covers the costs and all surplus monies go to the charities and local causes.
The cut-off date for entries is 1 June, however, don’t let this put you off as it is flexible if you are interested in taking part!
