First woman to attempt The Enduroman Arch to Arc Challenge
The first woman to attempt to complete The Enduroman Arch to Arc Challenge is Trudy Dixon from Berkshire! She will be starting her challenge on Thursday 7th August 2008 at 12pm from London’s Marble Arch... and the most recent communication from her said:
“Just to keep you up dated.
The run is due to start Midday on 6th Aug from London Marble arch.
87 miles to Dover.... the run...
Swim is booked for the Friday 8th at 6am (weather permitting).
22 miles to French coast.... the swim...
Sometime Saturday I’ll ride into Paris to finish at the Arc de Triomphe!
180 miles to Paris... the bike ride...
No real time scale to do this challenge in as I will be the first female to attempt this.
As always, thanks for all your support, don't forget the charities.
Hopefully there will be a live link on the website, if not Mother is in charge of keeping you all informed.
See ya at the finish line ;-)
Trudy”
Bloomin' ell... nearly 300 miles by human power over a few days ... I couldn’t even ponder it for a minute ... she’s obviously been watching the Bionic Woman!
I asked if the media had tuned in but apparently it’s the Olympics... not that we’d know it. What better way of getting us interested than real human determination. Come on TV people, get your cameras out...
For the run... Trudy’s loaded up with trainers decked out in crazy laces given to her by one of her kids from summer camp!
For the swim... she’ll be wearing a swim cap from her lifesaving club in Canada... that’ll be worth a few quid on ebay once she is the 1st woman to complete The Enduroman Arch to Arc Challenge.
For the ride... Enigma cycles have lent her a top end push bike... carbon fibre & titanium hand built wheels of better than steel!!
Trudy recently emigrated to Canada from the UK to follow her passion for training:
“Open water swimming in Lakes Erie and Ontario were just amazing. Cycling through all the Ontario countryside was just a joy. I then had the great rail trails to run along, where the abundance of wildlife and fauna, made it a pleasure to go out most days. I guess the only gripe would be that is was too hot!
I have great coaches and training partners in Canada that made it very easy to do the training and actually enjoy it, most of the time.
Weekends were spent doing at least 5 hour bike rides and then Sunday was open water in the lakes with my Lifeguarding buddies for at least 2 hours before getting into the pool.
Most of my runs on a daily basis were over an hour. Once a week I would head out for at least 3 hours.
Actually I swam across one lake at a friend’s cottage. 1.5 hour swim! Got some odd looks from everyone in the boats....”
Let’s wish her well with this amazing challenge and when she is the first woman to complete The Enduroman Arch to Arc Challenge I bet the media will want their two penneth... why not connect with her before the event and so you’ll be first on her list...
Get down to London’s Marble Arch on Wednesday before 12pm and say hello, “Mind if we follow you Trudy? Here’s a handsome cheque for your expenses or charity donation, you choose.”
