Appledore & Bracknell businesses bring you The Makeover |
A few years ago, Dr Day had the idea for a competition and talked to some of her business friends. They were quite keen but it took a number of meetings with many media representatives before she finally managed to secure The Bracknell News as a partner.
The Makeover was launched Valentines week 2008, entrants were invited to send in a picture with their story about how they deserved a makeover. The three makeover providers looked at all the entrants and chose 10 people as semi finalists. These semi finalists all had a full dental and facial examination with Dr Teresa Day and a health and fitness assessment with Rachel McGuinness. Two finalists were chosen and then the readers of The Bracknell News were invited to vote on who should win the makeover. The lucky winner was Theresa Mercer. Rachel McGuinness – Absolutely Fabulous put Theresa through her paces with a sensible exercise regime and helped her with her diet and general confidence. Dr Teresa Day and her team provided dental and aesthetic treatments. Dental treatments at Appledore Theresa had an extraction, an implant and a crown plus some white fillings with Dr Teresa Day. She had whitening and a Cerec one day crown restoration with Dr Neale Katz and she had a root canal treatment with Dr Jon Sprague She also had extensive hygienist treatment with Miss Lorraine Staley Aesthetic treatments at Appledore Theresa had Agera facials and peels, microdermabrasion (to improve her skin tone), IPL - intense pulsed light – therapy (to repair sun damage and clear red veins), a brow shape and leg wax all with Miss Sara Taylor - Appledore Aesthetic & Beauty Therapist. Dr Day then provided Theresa with Botox treatment to soften her frown lines. In the last week of the Makeover Theresa had a full consultation with Sharon Connolly from Maximise where she was given advice on colours and styles and then taken shopping to choose a free outfit, shoes and handbag which were provided by Bentalls. Theresa received a hamper full of Clarins products to suit her skin type and colouring following a make-up session with Melinda the Clarins Consultant at Bentalls. Theresa had her hair styled and coloured by Lisa Down – Salon owner/partner at Zappas in Crowthorne. After a long in-depth consultation, Lisa decided to work with Teresa’s natural curl and designed a shorter, choppier more current hair style that could be easily maintained by Theresa herself. The colours chosen for her hair represented a more autumnal feel with warm brown caramels and gorgeous copper reflex, enhancing Teresa’s eyes and face shape. The new Theresa was unveiled to her friends and family during Bracknell fashion week. She had her photos taken by John Cassidy on the catwalk and was then whisked back to his studio for a full shoot. Everyone felt that it was a great way to showcase their skills and have decided to do it again next year and make it a regular feature. Keep a look out in the Bracknell news, you could be the 2009 winner. |
