Appledore Clinic prides itself on supporting the local community. Berkshire Community Foundation is supported by Appledore Binfield Milton Keynes Community Foundation is supported by Appledore Milton Keynes Glen Trivett a local ice hockey youth player is supported by Appledore Milton Keynes (see below for Glens progress reports). Both clinics support The Breast Cancer Appeal. The clinics also support various local charities with treatment vouchers given for raffle prizes. The clinics have through the years supported various local youth sports teams. Various Appledore team members undertake charity events which we are happy to support and promote. * Good luck to Dr Teresa Day and her husband Mike, who are undertaking the London to Paris bike ride in aid of action medical research. The ride is 300 miles over 5 days on 25 -29 July 2007. If you'd like to sponsor Teresa to get saddle sore, you can do so at http://www.action.org.uk/~teresa For further info www.action.org.uk * Good luck to Anne Powders our Milton Keynes Hygienist who is going on an arduous sponsored trek during November that will incorporate Mount Sinai and the Pyramids at Giza. The challenging 7 day trek is to raise funds for Dentaid which is an International Charity that aims to improve oral health in disadvantaged communities around the world, where tooth decay is rife and dental services are very basic or even non-existent, whereas we take anaesthetic and sterilisation for granted, often the people in these communities have neither! Donations will be gratefully received at www.justgiving.com/annepowders Progress reports on Glen Trivett: June 07 Glen’s ice hockey season culminated with the EIHA Inter-conference Championships held at Kingston upon Hull at the start of May. This consisted of teams from the all areas of the UK and even a team representing Scotland. The teams are chosen players from individual Ice hockey teams in the current EIHA League. Glen was picked for the South West Team whic got through to the U15’s Final against the North. A tense game with both teams very evenly matched but South West succumbed to the North’s continuing pressure eventually losing the game 3-1. Glen’s excellent performance was noted by coaches from afar a field as Canada and this was credited by an EIHA School Of Excellence invitation for next seasons Team England U16’s Trials. Dec 06 Glen started training in December 06 for the various teams he plays with. Confimed dates: England tournament Fussen Germany 11th-16th April 2007, South West Conference Tournament Prague 14th-18th March 2007 and Hull in May 2007. Nov 06 Glen Trivett has been playing ice hockey from the age of 6, he plays for Milton Keynes Storm U16’s and was selected to attend the School of Excellence in Hull in July 2006.
