Working at Height - Revisited
Ask yourself this question does a member of your staff or family (especially the budding DIY) undertake any jobs that involve working at height, if the answer is 'yes', then grab a coffee and visit this new free easily to navigate site from the HSE........ Visit Fallington
In the workplace the duty holders must (the householder or husband should!):
1. Avoid work at height where they can;
2. Use work equipment or other measures to prevent falls where they cannot avoid working at height; and
3. Where they cannot eliminate the risk of a fall, use work equipment or other measures to minimise the distance and consequences of a fall should one occur.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 place responsibilities on the duty holder to ensure:
■ all work at height is properly planned and organised;
■ all work at height takes account of weather conditions that could endanger
health and safety;
■ those involved in work at height are trained and competent;
■ the place where work at height is done is safe;
■ equipment for work at height is appropriately inspected;
■ the risks from fragile surfaces are properly controlled; and
■ the risks from falling objects are properly controlled.
A free guidance publication detailing the Working at Height Regulations 2005 is available free on the web
