Fashioning a business upturn in an economic downturn

Fashioning a business upturn in an economic downturnFirstly, at all costs, avoid the 'rabbit in headlights' syndrome - waiting for someone else to make the first move - not many rabbits make it out of those headlights in real life! Review your business now, take appropriate action and make the necessary adjustments.

It is worth considering some key differences in businesses today versus that seen in the last 'downturn' in the early 1990's. 'Re-engineering' made many businesses leaner and meaner in the 1990's with major reductions in headcount - it is unlikely that many businesses will have the same scope to make that level of headcount reduction today without some damage to the business. Today the prevalence of the web and IT solutions permeates all businesses and adds major efficiencies versus a decade or more ago.

Christmas discount cheer on Organic wine and beer

Christmas discount cheer on Organic wine and beerBinB have negotiated a 5% discount with Vintage Roots.

December is the month for partying - and drinking. So why not try organic beers and wines for a change? Better for you, and better for the planet, they also taste great. With fewer additives, preservatives and artificial colours, organic wines and beers promise a clearer head in the morning - good news for a month in which many Christmas parties seem to happen mid-week!

When you choose organic drinks, you're choosing a beverage in which the grapes, hops and barley have been grown free from insecticides, herbicides, toxic fertilisers and other nasties. These are bad news for water, air, soil, flora and fauna - and for us when we ingest them. Go organic to avoid all those unnecessary chemicals.

Good morning <07 Name>

When all around is doom and gloom... smile, it takes the chill off!

There's little to be gained from grabbing hold of this negative vibe that is encircling the nation, it only reinforces the down turn. Best thing to do is think positive thoughts and get yourself proactive and uncover those little golden nuggets just waiting for you to unearth them.

Business in Berkshire is on a drive to ensure that all our micro sites are active or we will remove them from our growing environment of opportunity. This weekend over 60 inactive accounts were removed, 10% of our database cleaned out to allow for new growth. Our communications pipeline is second to none with our local distribution, micro site content being nationally indexed rapidly and quality news stories being picked up by Google alerts and spread globally!

Business in Berkshire offers you one of the best business lead generation opportunities in UK, never mind Berkshire. Add a few words to your micro site each week and you'll hugely increase your chances of being found by those looking for what you have to offer. Generate an article a day and you'll soon see your name frequently in lights and wonder why you'd not joined in sooner!

One of our newest recruits is simply amazed by the online impact his micro site is having and will be putting a very forceful testimonial together in the not too distant future, one hopes!

Those that have bumped into me recently at exhibitions and networking events will have noticed I am taking a far more direct and straight forward approach to presenting our offering. This is because after starting out around 10 years ago to create my own widget I have finally arrived. Without any reservation, I can quite categorically say that we have one of the most powerful online marketing services in the UK and if you are reading this then you would be absolutely crazy not to join our band of merry micro site owners.

Starting at only £99 + VAT for the keys to your own BinB micro site and rental for the year the numbers stack up. Our Christmas in Berkshire space was visited by over 1000 people last month, 431 via the search engines. If this was your space and you'd added an average of 1.67 articles per month of your own making, the cost would be around £9.69 per month and therefore equate to a smidgen over 2p per click through from the search engines or less than a penny per micro site visitor!

If you'd like to benefit from our consultancy and added value services then we would obviously charge a reasonable fee for helping you make some positive steps forward.

In this time of need we cannot spend too much time polishing egos and must focus on finding those who are serious about moving their businesses forward in these times that require a higher level of self believe, persistence and quality workmanship. So if we call, please respond without us having to call 3-4 times. We can help you grow your business but only if you help yourself!

If you know what we are saying makes sense then JOIN IN TODAY and let's get you flying high for Christmas.

Office Efficiency could help you through the Credit Crunch

Office Efficiency could help you through the Credit CrunchIn this current economic crisis all businesses need to be concentrating on sales generation and delivery to keep the money rolling in.

This does not mean this should be done at the expense of all other business activities or the business will be less likely to survive a recession. By being more organised and efficient with your administrative tasks such as bookkeeping, office management and other non-money-earning business tasks, you will be able to devote more time and energy into sales, marketing and delivery of your product or service.

Power Delegating

Power DelegatingThe challenge

In almost all coaching assignments I undertake, at whatever level in an organisation, at some point in our discussion the issue of delegation raises its troublesome head. Most of my clients are preoccupied by it. Few feel they have mastered it. For many of these business leaders, their failure to master the skills of delegation represents a serious impediment to their upward career mobility.

When Australian Wool Innovation decided to launch its biggest marketing campaign in China for over 10 years, it naturally turned to online marketing as the most cost-effective, results-driven method of marketing. Online strategies will allow the organisation to target online communities with its brand stories, which include that of Woolmark.

Ken Livingstone to join LBC as presenter

Ken Livingstone to join LBC as presenterFormer Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, will be viewing the media world from the other side of the fence now he's joined London's LBC Radio as a presenter.

During a two-hour stint every weekend, Livingstone hosts conversations with guests and chat to callers live on air.

Livingstone admitted his biggest fear is being unable to keep listeners from falling asleep. "I have no idea how it will go, to be honest," he said before he started. He began by standing in for Jeni Barnett on her weekday afternoon show because "I need to learn the ropes before they let me loose on my own show."

Mario Lanza album nears completion

Mario Lanza album nears completionChristian Billett has had another busy week recording more songs for his album. With just three out of the eighteen tracks left to complete all is still looking positive for the January release date.

Particular favourites include stirring songs like " With a Song In My Heart " and " I'll walk with God" as well as the more intimate arrangement of "Beloved" arranged for just piano, Violin and voice. A beautiful contrast to the full orchestral arrangements.

I'm a Celebrity... and I was here first?

I'm a Celebrity... and I was here first?I defend my addiction to watching shows such as 'I'm a Celebrity...' on the basis that it is actually quite intellectually stimulating. Many in depth discussions and behavioural analyses are inspired as a result. Well, in my house at least!

Psychology is usually defined as:
"The scientific study of human and animal behaviour and mental processes."

Strictly Come Dancing viewing figures set to fallJohn Sergeant leaves Strictly Come Dancing

Unless you've been under a rock, you'll have heard the news that political correspondent John Sergeant has bowed out of the BBC's uber-popular Strictly Come Dancing. Sergeant, who danced everything from the waltz to the paso like the father of the bride leading his daughter around the dance-floor, made the decision because, he said, "there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far."

Happy birthday Russell Watson

Happy birthday Russell WatsonToday marks the 42nd birthday of British tenor Russell Watson. The "People's Tenor" has more to celebrate than most 42-year-olds, having successfully battled two brain tumors.

A benign tumour was discovered in 2006 and was removed in November of the same year. In October 2007, however, medics discovered that the tumour had reappeared and was, in fact, bleeding into the singer's brain. Watson underwent emergency surgery within a week and then went through rehabilitation and radiotherapy before making a complete recovery.
