A fabulous Charity Cabaret evening with Sir Michael Parkinson

A fabulous Charity Cabaret evening with Sir Michael ParkinsonA fabulous Charity Cabaret evening with Sir Michael Parkinson at Wentworth

Darlings, we had a simply fab evening with Sir Michael Parkinson and his chums, helping to raise £50k for Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust and get them that much closer to opening the doors on the first children’s hospice for Berkshire. Laurie Holloway on piano, Kenny Lynch and Rolf Harris singing some old classics and Bobby Davro on laughter with Frank McKay as compere for the evening. It was totally brilliant or as we’d say up north, it was a reet laff!

I’d prepared for the evening, taken the car for its annual wash earlier and had my hair cut, well it was at Wentworth !

7pm Champagne reception, but we got there just in time for a glass of champers for the Mrs and I ordered a nice Bacardi and coke to get me in the mood. Two minutes later and they called us into the Ballroom for dinner... perfect timing.

UK Economic Outlook 2008-09

UK Economic Outlook 2008-09The current crisis in global banking is unprecedented since the 1929 Wall Street Crash and it will damage the economy over the coming months leading to a recession similar to that experienced in the 1970's. Unregulated growth in credit over many years is responsible and led to a serious bubble in property prices which has now burst. The government deregulation of Financial Markets led to a Casino culture which they then neglected to regulate properly. These two major factors created a toxic mix resulting in the mess we are seeing now.

Good morning <07 Name>

If you study today's news and the report we will be releasing in next week's newsletter, you may draw the following conclusions:

  1. 49% of us would bail out of an online transaction if we had problems during the process
  2. 68% stop doing business with you because they think you no longer care
  3. 84% say that fact to face networking ROCKS!
  4. Online sales are up 38% on last year!
First job, get yourself an ecommerce solution that smoothes the transaction element, we have one of them! (Just need more people testing it!!)

Next, get out there and press the flesh. Connect to your customers and potential customers on a regular basis, reinforcing your message and ensure they know you care. Not in some Cheshire cat smiley sort of way, but by introducing them to potential customers or people in the same world; they can have "same page" conversations and feel that there are others out there like them, that they are not alone.

So where to go? Well use our BinB Monday newsletters to tune yourself into what's happening out there and if you know people who are running events, tell them to connect with us and we can help them spread the word.

Then, get out and about in real time and speak to real people.

Tomorrow you could start the day with "the best breakfast in Berkshire" and then follow this in the evening with a cultural event in Bracknell with the INspired Speed Networking & Photographic Exhibition. Friday John Redwood, MP for Wokingham is running his Business Matters Breakfast briefing. I've just spoken to Christine and there's room for a few more, give her a bell on 0118 962 9501.

Computers are great for creating a level of awareness but people buy from people, so use the web to find opportunities but get out and see the whites of their eyes. If you're going to the INspired event then I'll see you there...

The Internet is Proven Medium of Choice

The Internet is Proven Medium of ChoiceNews just in from the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA) is reinforcing the Internet as the proven medium of choice for advertisers as they try and maximise their ever decreasing budgets.

The study's headline figures say: 82% of advertisers who have seen an increase in their online spend admitted it is coming directly from the likes of print media (40%*), TV (39%*) and increasingly DM (32%*) budgets. This is backed by the fact that three quarters (73%) state that they are increasing their use of online as an advertising medium whilst 31% of advertisers claim their use of TV is decreasing and 40% cite a decrease in the use of newspapers.
