Good morning
Yesterday I started jury service at Reading Crown Court so Barry is producing the newsletters this week. This has to be a good thing! By being removed from the process of doing, it allows me to step back, something I would have like to have done ages ago but resource didn't allow. I can then focus more on building the business.
Business in Berkshire is not funded by any outside organisations. It is funded by LiaiseOnline Limited, the business we have built up over the last six years offering email marketing technology and services. In fact, a business we have in some ways neglected, in order to focus on Business in Berkshire. I wasn't always sure if this was a good investment of my time but it is all now starting to pay dividends!
We have created one of the most powerful search engine platforms in the UK. You don't have to believe me, just search for stuff and you'll bump into our website all the time. Just think, you could be part of our web community for only £180 + Vat per year... have we mentioned that before?
I can't tell you about the cases I'll get involved with during jury service, but I will report back on the experience itself once we get into it. At the moment it's rather like waiting for a delayed flight!
Enjoy today's news.
Are Your Company Details Displayed Clearly?
As of 20th January, the Companies Act 2006 requires that your company
details appear clearly on your website as well as your business letters, cheques, and other documentation.
Company information will also need to be shown in more detail on written documents as well as electronic
communication in any form. The details required are as follows:
place of registration and company registration
number ¥ registered office address ¥ in the case of an investment company, the fact that it is such a company
¥ in the case of a limited company exempt from the obligation to use the word "limited" in its name, the fact that
it is a limited company

A wealth of data, shortage of information
In the information age, with the internet providing us with news and comment from all corners of the world, data exploitation has been elevated from its traditional place in the marketing mix to become a 21st century corporate necessity.
In essence, businesses have a wealth of data but a shortage of actionable information, and delivering the right information to the right people at the right time has never been so critical to an organisation's success.
The integration of data and its packaging up in a form that business managers can comprehend and action is what bridges the information void.

Bracknell enjoys business boom
Bracknell enjoys business boom The busy town of Bracknell in Berkshire has recently experienced an economic revolution, as a result of the influx of hi-tech and computer firms moving to the area.
According to recent report in the Guardian newspaper, only one per cent of residents in Bracknell are unemployed and most people are earning good wages in skilled jobs.
Located only 45 minutes away from London, the area is sought after by businesses wishing to maintain excellent links with the capital, while paying slightly lower prices.
Standards of living are high and house prices in the area are rising rapidly, reflecting the popularity of the area with businesses and residents.

Types of Loans
Types of Loans I've called this article "types of loans" as I want to focus on what I consider to be the three most common loan options- Unsecured, Secured and Consolidation.
Unsecured Loan Definition - "A loan granted based only on the borrower's promise to repay." Despite the title, this is the most common and safest type of loan available.
People who apply for these loans usually have the income to meet the re-payments and may use the loan to help cover the cost of DIY or a car.
The lender will assess the income levels of the applicant and will only approve the loan once they are satisfied that re-payments can be met.
Secured Loan Definition- "A loan in which a borrower pledges an asset such as a home or car that may be sold if the borrower is unable to repay the loan."

One in three salary-related schemes still open
One third of private sector salary-related schemes are still open to new employees, a survey has revealed.
According to the latest annual survey from the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), more than half of people saving in private sector defined benefit (DB) schemes belong to funds which are still open to new workers.
According to NAPF chief executive Joanne Segars, this suggests that a "significant amount of DB provision could survive" if further closures are avoided.
"This makes it even more important that the introduction of personal accounts in 2012 is accompanied by support for employers who keep more valuable schemes open," she claimed.

Eliminate the fear of Cold Calling!
Eliminate the fear of Cold Calling!
Whether you want more time in front of senior decision makers or to quickly build your client base and get instant sales, cold calling can really help.
However, we all know what a chore cold calling can be. You can probably count the number of sales people who enjoy making pro-active sales calls on one hand...or maybe even one finger! But get it right and it can be the most effective way to gain new clients and secure more business. Because it is loathed and misunderstood, if you understand it and embrace it there is a golden opportunity to rise above the rest and grab the sale!

Carbon Monoxide Warning
Part of our work involves undertaking inspections and audits; this involves verifying that gas appliances, such as cookers and boilers have been correctly maintained. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is known as the silent killer, it can kill almost instantly in great quantities and in smaller long term quantities cause you be lethargic, feel absolutely rotten and lousy and can lead to brain damage as it slowly poisons you.
The accident poem below could be aimed at the Landlord , The Employer, The Business Owner........Remember a 'Duty of Care' means a Legal and Moral Obligation:

Innovative Scheme Aims to Solve Parking Problems
In every town and city there are hundreds of unused parking spaces - including on the driveways of people that are out at work during the day. Now a new online business has come up with a novel solution to the ever-growing problem of city parking by matching people who want to rent out their parking space during office hours with those who are looking for a space.
Parking during the day is becoming more and more difficult in many areas. Over crowdedness in public car parks is greater than ever, and with car numbers escalating, it doesn't look like a problem that will go away. In addition, parking prices are also rising steadily, forcing drivers to look for other options.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has over 2,200 members registered in Berkshire. This executive level, influential membership provides an ideal target audience for many companies.
Never Miss Another Business Call
How often have you missed out on a piece of business because you weren't able to respond quickly enough to a customer's call? How often have you felt frustrated at being unable to contact someone by phone? Or wasted valuable time negotiating a baffling list of callcentre menus only to be put through to voicemail? Newbury-based Verbatim successfully address these issues by offering a professional telephone answering service at the fraction of the cost of hiring reception staff.
No Smoking Signs - Are You Ready for 1st July?
When your business goes smoke free on 1 July 2007 you will need to display legally required signs at entrances to your premises. And company vehicles used by more than one person will be required to have no smoking signs. As an employer it is now your duty to prevent smoking in the workplace and to display the required signage.
Well-written CVs crucial to employers
A recent survey* conducted on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills found that nearly 50% of employers would throw a poorly-punctuated CV straight into the bin.

Page SEO Results |
 When a prospective customer searches
for your type of business, what are the chances of them finding you on the
first page of Google? Are the search engines able to find your site easily? If
youre not getting the results you want from your website, what can you do
to boost your search rankings without spending a fortune on optimisation? There
is an answer and for just £180 per year you can join in.
Recent surveys focusing on search engine usage tell us that more than
60% of internet users click on a link that appears on the first page of their
search results. Around 90% will venture as far as the third page, with just a
handful choosing to go beyond. If youre in business, this means one
thing: to stand the best chance of being found by prospective customers you
need to appear on the first page of search results for the major search
engines. Or at least to appear somewhere on the first 3 pages. |
