Good morning <07 Name>
Online press release titles need to relate to the content or the provider will lose the audience!
We've just had a couple of days away with friends for half term. While the ladies talked and the kids liberated the gerbils, Trevor was off measuring stuff for the local council, which meant I could retrieve my mini laptop from its hiding place and crack on with a few articles.
Being in a different environment meant I could relax and take my time while reading various news sources, rather than feeling the normal pressure I put on myself to get stuff done… marvellous!
While clicking through Google News a story jumped out at me entitled "Digital Marketing available through Train to Gain". I was expecting to read how the government was yet again, taking business from small digital marketing businesses and pointing people in the direction of organisations very able at completing tender documents but a tad less in tune with the masses!
I was surprised to read an article presented by Business Strata, part of Thomson Local and written by Adfero Limited, that had only a partial reference to the title. What I actually read was a story about the main man of DMA, Robert Dirskovski, standing down and a few words about his legacy… so how do they relate?
This means next time I see a link to a Business Strata story I will question in my mind if the story will match the title. I may click through out of interest a few times but if I am consistently presented completely different topics then I will not be clicking through long term.
The lesson here is a very logical one. Ensure you are consistent with your messaging if you want to build rapport with your audience… or indeed build an audience!
I just went to check on the story and it appears the right story is now in place, so probably an administrative error. Easily done! We used Adfero for a number of years, excellent service. We also were sponsored by Thomson for a year and what I'm looking at by way of a service has similarities to our world. Just think, we probably connected the two together and provided the large corporate with an idea of how to develop its business without it having to go to the expense of working it out for itself! It wouldn't be the first time we led from the front and unlikely to be the last!
Interesting reading, the money available is for digital marketing training. I wonder if we could put a course together and get it signed off by the powers that be… sounds like something for DKL to get his teeth into.
Anyway, got a busy few days ahead, sorting out a bunch of projects we're working on, helping local businesses generate business leads in these lean times.
Thank you for listening…and if you would like some assistance, please call 01753 852904.
