Beat rising fuel costs by leasing a Mini!

We're all feeling the pinch as fuel prices climb. What better way to Mini-mise your forecourt bills than driving a Mini Cooper? The coolest small car on the market will help you beat the heat this summer. Mini Cooper leads the premium small car market with its range of small, fuel-efficient and fun vehicles and you can lease one through Cooperlease.

Staff at the Mini factory at Cowley, Oxford, are working hard to keep up with global demand. Cooperlease's Marketing Director, Ben Newton, says: "Mini Coopers are the perfect small car to drive in the current climate. Economical, with great fuel efficiency, they remain chic and stylish. We predict a huge increase in people wanting to lease Mini Coopers this summer."

Goal setting for personal and business success

In my previous article in this series, I wrote about what it is that characterises highly successful people. I quoted the work of Tom Morris from his book "True Success" (1994) in saying that, according to him, successful people:

o Determine what they want - that is, a goal or set of goals "powerfully imagined".
o Show focus and concentration in preparation and planning.
o Have the confidence and belief in themselves to see the goal through - that is, "self-efficacy".

sales lead generation

Sales lead generation is where it all begins. You need someone to be on your wavelength before you download your pitch or they are going to be bathed in a shower of TLAs. And as they wave their hands in front of their face to protect themselves from your diatribe you'll recognise that perhaps you should be talking about the weather!

Good morning <07 Name>

This weekend we took part in the Golden Egg Festival in Windsor. The high street in Windsor (Peascod Street) was given a makeover! 40 marquees were erected, with Jaguars guarding the top of Peascod Street and a Rock 'n' Roll lorry covering the bottom end, we were good to go!

Most of the stall holders were what you would expect but BinB was also there pitched up near the ice cream van... marvellous but we never got round to trying them out! Ali had questioned why the heck people would be interested in BinB on a shopping day and I explained my vision of attracting local business people, being put through the torture of Peascod Street by their families on a weekend. Not that it is torture, as this is Windsor not some uniform high street, we have a castle you know!! Which all makes for a very pleasant Saturday afternoon... it still feels like I'm on holiday after 12 years of living here!

Back to my vision... as business people we are always thinking about business. We switch off from time to time but it's not the day of the week that counts! So the chance to ask a business question of someone who will give a considered response is just fandibilytastic and so there I was, in my 3 x 3 tent, the walls decorated with A3 laminates we had created from the quality pdfs we produce for our clients.

I really enjoyed Saturday, dishing out cards to anyone who caught my eye and many that didn't! "Internet marketing Sir?" I was Jon, market stall owner in the morning and then, in the afternoon I sat back and let them walk into my web! It was fun, Charlie joined me for a couple of hours before getting one of his other chauffeurs to take him off to have more fun elsewhere. He dished out 30 cards to people walking by. A great first mission and who did he give his 5th card to? None other than Santa's top man in Berkshire!

I struggled through Sunday, not really in the swing of it. Perhaps Sunday really is a day of rest- I'd had my fun Saturday and really wanted to be with the family doing other stuff but hey, got 5 more leads making a total of 15, so if 3 or 4 turn into business that'll do nicely.

Try some new approach to business. There's tons of 'me too' stuff around. Be original in your approach and tell us your story and we'll give you a few column inches if we like your style and you bring good cheer to our newsletter... meanwhile, check out who Hanif was hanging with last week!

About CVs

The 'CV'... that 'age old' document that tells prospective employers all about you and compels them to meet you to further discuss that role you covet. Your great career, your wonderful achievements - they can't turn you down!! In the real world of course 'they' do. For reasons most often unbeknown to you rejection follows together with the obligatory 'sorry you have not been successful this time' response. You're frustrated, 'If only I could have got to meet them' you say - but you didn't and there is no way back!

So what did go wrong? Wouldn't it have been useful to know what the reader/ recipient of your CV looks for? How much more effective could your application have been if your CV was tailored to what the recipient likes to see? How many more interviews could you have got through to and what could happen when you really can get down to selling yourself to your prospective new employer?

Impact of reduced customer spend

In today's economic climate all business are making plans to recession proof their business, therefore if you are taking steps to recession proof your business you can be confident that your customers are doing the same. This is the time when the 'nice to haves' for a business are scrapped and the must have products and services are selected based on the price and value that vendors and suppliers can deliver. The knock on effect of reduced customer spend can be huge for sales organisations if the sales team are not equipped to overcome this challenge and your customer message is not in line with the current challenges your customers are facing.

Outbound Demand Generation (Telemarketing)

Insource or Outsource?

Increasingly larger companies are recognising the value of developing in-house telemarketing teams. However, most businesses lack the resources to conduct a reasonably sized project in a practical time scale, for example say, contacting a thousand companies on their purchasing intentions for a particular CAD software within two weeks. All too often telemarketing is carried out with stretched and sometimes inappropriate resources, such as using highly paid sales staff to gather leads, or a harassed secretary to cram in as many calls as possible in between other duties.

One Year On

What a difference a year makes as they say. Classically in any business when you meet an advisor, one of the questions will be - where do you see yourself in a years time? In my wildest dreams I could not have guessed where I would end up. The Keller breakfasts have been a pleasure and privilege to run and I have so many great people to thank for their support and encouragement.
