When a prospective customer searches for your type of business, what are the chances of them finding you on the first page of Google? Are the search engines able to find your site easily? If you’re not getting the results you want from your website, what can you do to boost your search rankings without spending a fortune on optimisation? There is an answer – and for just £180 per year you can join in.

Recent surveys focusing on search engine usage tell us that more than 60% of internet users click on a link that appears on the first page of their search results. Around 90% will venture as far as the third page, with just a handful choosing to go beyond. If you’re in business, this means one thing: to stand the best chance of being found by prospective customers you need to appear on the first page of search results for the major search engines. Or at least to appear somewhere on the first 3 pages.

Petrophase – Innovation in the Petro-Chemical Industry
Petrophase
Can you tell what sort of petroleum would be present in a reservoir solely from a density gradient measured 3 kilometres from the ground’s surface? Would it be gas, oil, or a mixture? How does the composition of oil or gas change as the reservoir depletes? If it was contaminated with hydrogen sulphide how would that partition between water, oil, and gas during production?

Questions like these are frequently posed during oil and gas exploration (and production) and so prompted Brian Moffatt and Mike Fawcett to launch technical consultancy firm Petrophase in 2004. They work within a highly technical field, investigating a wide range of industrial and natural phenomena.

Red Nose Day Treasure Hunt in Maidenhead
Red Nose Day
This Saturday (17th March) there is a treasure Hunt taking place in Maidenhead Town Centre in aid of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.

Sainsbury’s are one of the main partners Red Nose Day 2007 and will be promoting the event throughout their new store and in the piazza on the 16th March. Sainsbury’s will be opening their new flagship store on Thursday 15th March 2007 after two years of development. The store opening will also mark the re-opening of the car park that has been closed throughout the development resulting in a loss of parking space for the town centre.

The new store is expected to attract many visitors so Maidenhead Town Partnership decided to capitalise on the anticipated rush of shoppers by hosting a Red Nose Day themed Treasure Hunt from the Sainsbury’s piazza to participating stores in the town and back to the Sainsbury’s piazza.

Cadbury Schweppes Grave Mistake
Cadbury Schweppes Grave Mistake
UK firm Cadbury Schweppes had to apologise to the City of Boston in the US following a Dr Pepper marketing stunt which resulted in the city’s historic Granary Burying Ground being closed. The Dr Pepper promotion involved a massive treasure hunt for missing gold coins in exchange for big cash prizes.

The popular campaign challenges consumers to find the hidden coins via a series of cryptic clues. One of the coins was hidden behind a stone slab in the 350 year old Boston cemetery which counts historic figures Samuel Adams and Paul Revere amongst its inhabitants.
