Director's News Business in Berkshire

Good morning <Name>
Jon Davey
Today I've been invited to give a presentation at Selfridges, London to NRG Networks. In preparation, I revised our search string stats.

88% of all our news article titles published between Christmas and 2nd February are on page 1 of Google, 75% in the top spot!

And if that's not impressive enough, 60% of articles published last week are showing on page 1.

I guess we must be doing something right.

What are you doing about your online PR? Need a sprinkling of online marketing magic?

Who's game on to join in the Pancake Challenge? Windsor and Eton Pancake Challenge 2007. Send me an email saying count me in.

Enjoy today's news!

Property Specialists Work Together to Provide Complete Service
Property Specialists Work Together to Provide Complete Service
Newbury-based Ansells Commercial & Industrial Property Agents have formed an association with local surveyors Mursell & Co, a move that should enable the combined team to provide a truly complete range of commercial property services to their clients.

Paul Enters, the senior partner with Ansells, has been advising clients for over 35 years - 26 of those years based in the Newbury area. His firm typically focuses on property disposals, acquisitions, valuations and rent reviews. Brian Mursell’s practice covers the 3 disciplines of building surveying, quantity surveying, and architecture. By pooling their respective experience in these key areas and working more closely together, the 2 firms aim to offer their clients an across-the-board portfolio of commercial property-related services.

The Ultramobile PC – Will it Catch On?
The Ultramobile PC
A US company recently launched a practical alternative to the usual desktop or laptop computer. The OQO 02 is just 14cm wide, 8cm high, and 3cm thick. Yet despite its diminutive size, it’s a fully Windows Vista-capable computer, with a 1.5-gigahertz processor, an 800-by-480-pixel touch screen, a slide-out keyboard, and three kinds of wireless connectivity.

The new breed of ‘Ultramobile’ PC was pioneered by San-Francisco based OQO; their 01 model was the ‘world’s smallest Windows PC’ for 2 years. Surprisingly the target market – mobile professionals – have been slow to embrace the technology, although the 02 version features numerous upgrades includes better screen visibility and longer battery life.

Business rules have changed. Do you still comply?
Business rules have changed
New rules for companies came into force from 1st January 2007 which affect the information companies can give out about themselves, including information published on their websites.

The main changes will result in business letters, order forms and now websites including the provisions of section 351. Changes to sections 349 and 351 have been inserted into the Companies Act 1985 and are highlighted in bold below.

Case Study: Implementing business plans

“The directors were very clear on the business strategy but we realised that our employees were not. We needed to fix that quickly”. SA, Marketing Director

The business
A very large corporation in the IT market. They operate on high volumes and thin margins in a marketplace that’s fast moving and competitive.

Revenues and profits were continuing to grow but this was dependant upon the company being agile enough to respond quickly and well to business changes.

Hazards in the Workplace
Hazards in the Workplace
There is vast volume of information and resources on the web to assist employers and employees in ensuring the workplace is a safe place to be.

The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) has an excellent website that provides not only free documents to help plan your own campaigns, the HSE has done the work for you and developed campaigns that WILL work in your workplace.

Absolute Health and Safety Solutions Ltd have produced this article to help direct you to just a few of useful HSE articles that can address hazards that are in your work place.

Saving or investing?
I don’t know if any of you have read the below article (called ‘two questions before you start’), but it raises a good question to ask: are you saving or investing? To avoid plagiarism, I’ll let you read about the differences, but it’s a key factor to consider.

Choosing the right account
Savings accounts usually fall into two categories, short-term or long term. Short-term (easy access) refers to an account where you can have instant access to your money without incurring any penalties. The amount and frequency of what you put in can also be varied. These accounts are usually good to use for money for the tax man.
