Sales Recruiting Without Tears

Recruiting sales people can be fraught with problems - especially for business owners with no previous sales recruitment experience. A common pitfall of sales recruiting is the often exaggerated claims of some applicants. Just because an applicant looks and sounds like a sales person does not mean that they will succeed in the role they are being recruited for. Even experienced sales recruiters get it wrong. One way to reduce the risk of making costly mistakes is to subject candidates to a sales assessment test prior to interview.

Sales recruiting is something of a minefield to business owners, even for those with a background in sales. The cost of making a recruitment mistake can be extremely high. There are the costs for sales recruitment agencies or job adverts...

Organic Buffet Tucks into Small Business Review

Vincent Charles set up catering firm Organic Buffet in 2003 to provide on-site catering for corporate and private events. The company quickly established a strong reputation but as a sole trader, Vincent often found little time to develop new customer contacts. Now, thanks to a small business review by Business Link, he has been focusing on future plans for Organic Buffet.

Organic Buffet specializes in locally produced and organic food. Registered to the foodservice and organic catering code of practice of the Soil Association, the company has achieved some outstanding results since launch, with a customer base that includes many local (and not so local) Councils, the NHS, Wildlife Trust, Thames Valley Farmers Coop and more.

Good morning <07 Name>

Business in Berkshire is helping its members build their business in Berkshire. Recently we introduced a business leads newsletter, for members only. For nearly six years we have been providing business directors with business news and events listings. Next week we'll be launching our contextual links website. Providing the latest online marketing techniques has been part of LiaiseOnline's philosophy since we started our business back in 1999. Today first page seo is currently the latest buzz and generating contextual links is key to a successful seo strategy.

In January 2006 we brought you a mobile news channel. Kicking off in style with videos from John Redwood MP and Theresa May MP, the vision was 5 minute video footage that people could download to their mobile and watch on the tube. Realisation of the energy and resources needed to make quality videos meant we couldn't create our own footage full time but the space is there if you have video you'd like people to see.

Connecting with local MPs led to a political editor making contact and working with us until they received a call from a local newspaper looking for top local talent to build their readership. This is how the food chain works! We all need to be noticed and what better way than in an opt-in newsletter that goes out to thousands and is read online by thousands more. Many find our website via search engines, looking for information on a huge range of topics. From on this day in history, to political news, innovative ideas, logo design, events, sales and much more.

Local businesses looking for help with business reviews can find testimonials for Business Link and make contact to see how they can help:

  1. Business Review Helps Infineo With Growth Plans
  2. Small Business Review for Elec n Dec Property Services
  3. Organic Buffet Tucks into Small Business Review
are but three testimonials for a job well done.

We're trying out some of our latest initiatives with one of our long term partners, Windsor Vehicle Leasing. We have created a website dedicated to the Mini Cooper. Over the coming weeks we'll explain our activities and help our readers understand the benefits of being a member.

We look forward to bring you the latest news, as it happens!

Businesses should 'restrict web access'

Companies should restrict employee access to the internet, it has been suggested.

One expert has said that laying down some ground rules in the office will mean that the risk of online crime will be reduced.

Managing director of Get Safe Online Tony Neate stated that the process of restricting access does not have to be complicated.

"[It can involve] simple things like controlling access to iPods and mails coming in from web addresses and even social networking sites," he commented.

Students Give Reading Thumbs Up

Figures have revealed that 88% of students at the University of Reading are satisfied with their course and their experience of higher education.

These figures, revealed in the third annual National Student Survey (NSS), put Reading Students among the most satisfied in the country. Within the poll, Reading University is in the top 20 universities in England and in the top 23 nationally out of a total of more than 140 universities.

Cooper Wheels

Looking for a cost effective way to finance some new wheels? Something exciting and modern but with some cool retro styling touches? How about the BMW Mini Cooper - a desirable set of wheels which combines build quality, style, image, and practicality all in one neat package. And with leasing, you get to enjoy all the benefits without the ongoing losses incurred through depreciation.

The 'new' Mini has been with us for a few years now and although new models have joined the range (the Cooper S convertible, the Clubman Estate) the original character has been retained throughout. The Mini brand is ingrained in British culture and even though it is now BMW-owned, the Mini spirit remains...

London Irish Rugby Lunchworks

My next venture. Lunchworks is a networking group based in London and Watford. I will be launching its new venue at the Madejski Stadium in The Royal Berkshire Conference Premier Suite.

This group is strongly connected to sport and as the Watford Club is associated with Saracens Rugby, it seemed a natural move to join London Irish Rugby to host their LUNCHWORKS.
