This week I have been firmly seated in my office. I have driven the car only once and that keeps me on target to have an average daily mileage of 12!
In a previous life I was a rep and thought nothing of travelling 2-300 miles in a day. I'd wake up in the morning decide on my mission and off I would go in my Rover 216 GTI Twin cam, what a car that was! Not as hot as the Honda Accord 2.2 VTec I had later when I worked for NTL, but I was 23 and I was going to kick ass. My main objective was to break down the barrier of opticians to the idea of disposable contact lenses, they were used to an 18 month life cycle and regular, intensive cleaning regimes. I'd been on the 2 week Acuvue training course in Florida, coached in objection handling and consultative sales, nothing was going to stop me. I was going to take any challenge thrown at me and win salesman of the year! And I did, twice in the first 3 years, I could have made it a hat trick but one of my colleagues had been working very hard and I couldn't take their dream away, so opted for 2nd place!
In those halcyon days, we could call on HQ for random marketing budgets to try out new ideas. In 1988 I orchestrated a 3 month campaign in the Yorkshire Post which went on to win best co-operative advertising campaign for the United Newspaper Group. Lots of stuff would go on expenses. I remember driving to Edinburgh, from Leeds, for breakfast to impress a young lady and the fuel bill was picked up by the firm. Marvellous!
Today I run my own successful Internet Marketing businesses but don't have the resources to plaster our name over every wall in the county to generate a tidal wave of business to our door. We need your help to get the message out.
Our 2008 promotional focus is on offering FREE Business websites to businesses across Berkshire. 50 have applied so far, we've created 30, the others will get done over the next week or so. We have another angle we are building into this, so don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves with construction until the process has been finalised... more coming next week as we progress.
Please help us to help you, by printing off a few copies of this poster and post it to a notice board near you, leave it in your reception area or pass on to friends and relations that run their own businesses and are looking to increase their profile.
