Christmas Party Tips for Employers

Far from wanting to pour cold water on the coming festivities we want to ensure that everyone has a fantastic time and to ensure that no one suffers any unpleasant hangovers from 'the company party'. Employers should be aware that they have legal responsibilities.

According to a recent article by Peter Done, managing director of Peninsula Business Services, there are three options open to employers. Firstly, to organise and run the event directly themselves. Secondly, to sponsor the event leaving staff to organise it; and thirdly, not to participate at all - leaving staff to organise amongst themselves whatever it is they want to do.

Christmas Party Tips for Employers

Good morning <07 Name>

I tell you this bug is really starting to get on my nerves. Saw the doctor yesterday and have had no choice, after three weeks, to take a course of antibiotics. I reckon it's costing me at least £1000 week through lack of communication. I'm cancelling appointments and not making more until I'm in full working order.

If you are waiting for a call from me, SORRY for the delay, I will call you as soon as I am able.

All this quiet time has one great advantage it is enabling me to do some analysis of what's cooking and what's not. We tried some affiliate links for November on our Onthisday website. 20,000 pages viewed, 80,000 ad impressions, 50 people clicked and 1 person purchased. This result was anticipated from previous experience but that was 4 years ago! I wondered if people had got more active since they were more common place but obviously they are still irritating to view. This is the main reason you don't see adverts all over the home page of BinB and this trial has reconfirmed our position.

Next week we'll be launching:

  1. Our first contextual links competition. This will have a few fun prizes and we'll be looking for you to add links to content on Business in Berkshire from your other sites, blogs, social networks.
  2. A third level of Membership, GOLD SPL - Strategic Product Levitation. We have trialled this with a few of our accounts and it is working very effectively. The key to an account's success is its commitment to the cause, not for the faint hearted or quick buck merchants, it's a long term game and is the future of search engine marketing.
  3. And our Business School in a Box.Ê When BinB first started we were heavily involved in running business seminars and events for the FSB. In recent years our focus has been on helping others to promote their events. In 2008 we will be running our own monthly events, commencing in February, and helping our members gain maximum exposure for their products and services.
Enjoy today's newsletter and keep your fingers crossed that my voice returns asap!

Speed Reading Without Limits

Quantum Readingª - Speed Reading Without Limits

Paul Hobbs of The Thinking Consultancy has developed a unique learning technique which uses peripheral vision to quickly absorb the contents of a book at speeds of 20,000 to 30,000 words per minute. Known as 'Quantum Readingª' the technique is the application of Neuro Linguistic Programming, (NLP) and Accelerated Learning to reading.

The remarkable Quantum Readingª technique was developed by Paul following years of experience applying NLP, Accelerated Learning and other 'whole brain' concepts to management, behavioural training and person development. Combining elements from these disciplines, Paul integrated them to produce an advanced technique for learning through reading. The outcome is Quantum Readingª - a whole-brain approach to reading and learning which uses the latest knowledge of how the mind processes information.

Car Leasing

Car leasing is an affordable option for car drivers looking to save money on monthly repayments - and leasing a car often means you can afford a high spec range-topping model which you previously believed was out of reach. How does car leasing work and how exactly can it save you money? Read on to find out...

Unlike buying a car on a finance agreement, car leasing means you only pay for the use of the vehicle and not the purchase price. With car leasing, the monthly payments cover the cost of the depreciation over the time you use the car, with the option to buy or return the vehicle at the end of the agreement. As leasing payments tend to be cheaper than purchasing, it's an affordable way to drive a new (or nearly new) car - possibly a luxury model that might otherwise be out of your budget range.

Pride of Reading Awards

Amazing achievements lead to tear jerking moments at this year's Pride of Reading Awards hosted by TV Celebrity Chris Tarrant, who expressed his pride in his hometown as he came back once again to host the fourth Evening Post Pride of Reading Awards. He said: "When I look at what they have done, I'm not sure I could be that brave. I'm not sure I could be that selfless."

The Reading-born star provided his services free and received a donation for his favourite charity for Children with Leukaemia.
