Good
morning <Name>
I hope you like the sunny hue of our Thursday newsletter.
If you are a member of a business network in Berkshire then send us in
a story about your group and we'll give you a mention in our Thursday,
Networking News.
March is going to be our Networking month so we'll need
a story a day about business networks in the county.
Enterprising Britain kicks off this week and Saturday sees
a very enterprising idea,
WORKING ABROAD magazine launching on the streets of
Reading. A magazine for young people considering working abroad. Check out
Sustainabilitylive! coming up in May and next week, if
you're in the retail world, you should get yourself along to
springfair.com and join
80,000 buyers at the NEC.
Google are looking at ways to make more
billions via
online gaming and Kevin would be happy with one million for
his
photographs so he can refurb his sailing boat!
And
there's more on
pensions,
finance and the
property market.
Enjoy!

Google May Launch
Virtual World
Last week we published an article focusing on virtual
world websites such as Second Life and Habbo Hotel. Now this week rumours
are rife that Google plan to launch their own virtual world offering a
Google-engineered "metaverse" which industry experts are already referring to
as a "world game."
The metaverse would use real-world data gathered
from Google's existing properties to craft the alternate online platform.
Google are rumoured to be looking at ways to tap into the expanding world of
in-game advertising, following Microsofts 2006 purchase of Massive
a company specialising in in-game adverts for publishers and advertisers.
Apparently Google are in discussion with in-game ad company AdScape as they
prepare to monetize their virtual world format. Google May Launch Virtual World

Pensions- are they worth
it?
This is a question that is being
asked more frequently as time goes on. The UK is allegedly heading toward a
pension crisis, so the need to save for the future is more pressing than ever.
But, with many people struggling to pay high mortgage and utility costs,
finding money for a pension may be simply too much.
Company
pensions I dont know if any of you saw the programme on
Wheres My Pension Gone? (ITV1, 25th January 21:00-22:00), but
it examined some interesting issues relating to company pensions. At least two
thirds of large companies (Sainsburys is one example, Thomas Cook
another) have now closed their final salary scheme. The money which these
companies are paying out is decreasing, and many people are now not bothering
with a pension at all.
Pensions- are they worth it?
Rate Rise Prompts
Remortgaging Rush
The Bank of England's decision to
increase the base rate to 5.25 per cent led to a sudden flurry of people
seeking fixed-rate mortgages yesterday (January 11th).
Landlord
Mortgages in Wokingham, Berkshire, revealed that the decision had barely been
announced when the phones started ringing, with homeowners desperate to obtain
favourable rates before lenders adjust their rate tables.
Lee Grandin,
managing director with Landlord Mortgages, told the Financial Times that it was
"all a bit mad".

HSBC and Standard Life launch new
Sipp for SMEs
HSBC has teamed up with Standard
Life to launch a new self-invested personal pension (Sipp), aimed at small and
medium-sized businesses.
The product gives investors the benefits of a
Sipp, but does not require the same level of investment as the bank's existing
stakeholder pension.
The Sipp only requires a minimum £10,000
contribution, although the bank advises that it is ideally suited to customers
with a retirement fund worth at least £100,000. HSBC and Standard Life launch new Sipp for

Berkshire Property Unaffordable for
Many
House prices in Berkshire are rising so high that, for many
people, homeownership is simply out of the question.
The average
property in Reading now costs over £200,000 and in Windsor and
Maidenhead, that rises to £379,233, the BBC reports.
As a result,
many people are being priced out of the market and being forced to either
continue renting or to consider affordable housing, where they buy a percentage
of a property and pay a subsidised rent on the remainder of the value. Berkshire Property Unaffordable for

REPEAT: Spring-clean your
finances
Make 2007 the year to get it
right. This past two weeks Ive been talking about saving your
money, but what about a complete spring clean? This again involves looking at
all your finances and knocking any debts on the head.
Dont get
caught up in debt! Youre the one in control of your expenditure
so its your responsibility. Last year it was reported that a record
number of people (100,000) became insolvent with the figure set to increase
this year. So what can be done about it?
Take Control There
are many factors as to why debt occurs. Here are a few of them: REPEAT: Spring-clean your
